TUNE - TUNE - Look man, just play the TUNE - play the TUNE!
This is one of my daughter’s favourite tee and she disappeared with the white version too. The t-shirt infused with the designs from the 1970s exudes the pumping music, the spinning disco ball and fashion that was, well, let's just say, questionable. But we loved it!
I adored the platforms, flared trousers, the sequinned shoes alongside the big Afro hair style. Oh yes, it was the time of funky beats, and I could not get enough of the heavy funk! Funk was fading out and jazz-funk making its debut. Well crufty or not when Rick James tune was playing, even if the only one on the dance floor, I’d be there strutting my stuff!
When the DJ mimics the song, talks over the intro, does a rewind and all you want to do is dance, he, yes invariably a HE would be shouted at,
’Play the Tune man, just play the TUNE!’
Either the DJ liked the sound of his own voice or he forgot about the crowd and played his own choice of music!
